Dr. Bob day
May 1, 2009 on 12:09 pm | In CDSC, current events, The Holland Committee | No CommentsOn Wednesday, I headed up to the Capitol Building in Hartford to see Joey’s genetic doctor, Dr. Bob Greenstein get honored by the House and Senate for his 40 years of service to families here in Connecticut. CT’s Govenor Rell named April 29, Dr. Bob Greenstein Day!
Dr. Bob not only is the head of genetics at UCONN Hospital, he is the medical advisor for the CDSC and is on The Holland Committee with me.
Thank you to Dr. Bob for all your hard work and dedication to families like ours and all you’ve done to make the lives of children with genetic abnormalities of all sorts a better place!
You’re the best!

April 6, 2009 on 2:16 pm | In Friends, Videos, current events | 2 CommentsMy dear friend Melissa was recently nominated by Dillon’s babysitter for Fox 61’s Monday Makeover and she was picked! My already beautiful friend has been transformed into an even more beautiful woman! I can’t think of a more deserving person than Melissa to be treated to such a wonderful surprise as a professional makeover!
What a week!
March 22, 2009 on 8:15 pm | In Down syndrome, Videos, current events, Sarah Palin | 2 CommentsGeez, so I’m a bad blogger. I completely didn’t get a chance to post about my opinion of President Obama’s remark about his bowling score compared to the Special Olympics and World Day Syndrome Day.
Well, I just have one thing to say to Mr. Obama, “SHAME ON YOU!” Doesn’t he realize that MANY if not most of the people who compete in the Special Olympics who bowl, get better scores than so called typical people?! I know they’d all score better than me!
People who make comments like what he did completely and totally sicken me. People talk like that are typically the ones who talk like that on a regular basis. What a great example for him to set for his OWN children.
If you missed his comment, see below…
Ok, next subject…
Happy belated World Down Syndrome Day!!
This year, March 21 marked the 50th anniversary of when Professor Jerome Lejeune’s discovery of the extra copy of chromosome 21 which causes Down Syndrome, otherwise known as Trisomy 21, hense being celebrated on 3/21!!
With that I will end with this…
Don’t forget to change your clocks!

Coming to a TV near you (if you live in CT)
August 29, 2008 on 7:11 pm | In Down syndrome, current events, Sarah Palin | 2 CommentsPatrick and I were just interviewed by our local news station about Gov. Palin and running as John McCain’s running mate. The main focus of the interview was having a child with Down syndrome and what it would mean to us to have Gov. Palin as our Vice President.
She is someone I can compare myself to. She is not only a mother, she has a child with Down syndrome. What a better advocate for our children, than the Vice President of The United States of America?!
Guess who was on the news?!
August 13, 2008 on 6:32 pm | In Down syndrome, Advocacy, current events, Movies | No CommentsThat’s right. A little before noon, my girlfriend, Cecily called me and told me the news crew was going to be at her house at 1:30 to interview her about Tropic Thunder. The kids and I headed over to support her while being interviewed. The news guy asked if he could interview me too so, I hope I don’t sound like too crazy on there, lol!
They still haven’t posted the news video so as soon as they do, I will be sure to post it too!

I’ve been thinking about writing a post about this since it happened but I don’t always have the right words to express my feelings, but to honor these people, I decided to do so to the best of my abilities.
The other day while watching CNN and listening to the latest on the Minnesota bridge collapse, the news anchor was talking about some of the people who lost their lives. My heart goes out to each and every family affected by this tragedy. As I was listening to the list of known victims and people still missing, there are two victims that really made me cry and love my son even more, Vera Peck and her son, Richard Chit, who had Down syndrome are among the victims who are still missing.
Chit was in a car with Peck, when the bridge collapsed. Relatives said Chit had Down syndrome, and was virtually inseparable from his mother.
“One of them wouldn’t survive without the other, so maybe that’s just the way it’s supposed to be,” sister Caroline Chit told MSNBC through tears.
She and her sister said that Richard Chit was about to turn 21, and that they were looking forward to taking him out for a beer.
My thoughts and prayers are with Peck and Chit families as they morn the loss of their loved ones, Vera & Richard.
It’s funny how we all take each and everyday for granted until something can affect you even if you don’t know the people involved. Even if Richard didn’t have Down syndrome, it was still a mother and son who lives were lost and I couldn’t even imagine…
Happy Retirement Bob!
June 7, 2007 on 11:09 am | In Articles, current events, TV Shows | 2 CommentsI can’t believe it, the final Price is Right with Bob Barker was taped yesterday and is to be aired June 15. Now what am I and Joey going to watch every morning at 11? Being a stay at home mom, I have my TV set every morning to watch the CBS Early Show, Regis & Kelly, Rachel Ray, then The Price is Right (followed by the news and Young & The Restless). Of course I don’t get to watch these shows all the way through taking care of Joey and doing other household duties but at least I can listen and be a mom. I know they’re going to find a wonderful replacement for Bob but come on, it’s Bob Barker! Anyways, here’s an article about his final show. Take a bow Bob, you’re awesome!
